CODE OF CONDUCT
RESPECT
Everybody attending and involved with ESpanish Blues Festival has the right to be respected and enjoy learning, dancing, working, socializing and playing music in a safe and enjoyable environment. We expect appropriate, respectful etiquette and behaviours to be conducted at all times. We reserve the right to ask any person who displays inappropriate or disrespectful behaviour on or off the dance floor to leave the event.
CONCIOUSNESS
When we talk about consciousness we talk about having greater awareness of yourself, your body, your partner, your environment and the people around you. Be conscious of your energy levels; sleep; drink water; eat well; stretch; massage your feet; massage your friends’ feet; be spatially aware when dancing. Look after yourself and look after your peers.
GROWTH
As organisers and dancers we believe in continuous self-review and reflection to allow us to grow. We encourage you to do the same. Reflect on your dancing to help you progress as dancers; reflect on your values of the dance to deepen your own ideas and voice; reflect on why you love this crazy community and in turn help the community to grow.
HYGIENE
Dance is a physical activity. Please respect your partners and fellow dancers by ensuring you smell good at all times! Shower, wear deodorant, brush your teeth, change your clothes if you get sweaty, bring a towel with you to wipe your brow, and enjoy a nice dry, fresh smelling close embrace!
JOY
Joy is defined as “a feeling of great pleasure and happiness.” We ask that everyone aims to bring joy to the weekend – for themselves and for everyone around them. Ask strangers to dance, smile at your partner, clap and shout your appreciation to the bands, applaud the DJs (they love that!), encourage new dancers, chat to people you don’t know, ask the shy people at the edge of the dance floor to dance… spread joy!
