23:30-00:15 KOKO & ETTA... BRINGING THE POWER // DJ VICCI
Koko and Etta... two of my favourite 4 letter words! Koko - the "Queen of Blues", born in Tennessee in 1928 - and Etta - the "Queen of Soul", born 10 years later in California - are two of the best known female artists in blues music. They represent power and strength, and can give you goose bumps with the passion and pain in their voices. This set will bring the party, and the emotion, taking you on a journey through the variety of music these women created throughout their careers.

00:15-01:00 R&B SPECIAL // DJ ALBA
01:00-01:45 GOING TO KANSAS CITY... THE BLUES SHOUTERS // DJ ADAMO
Blues has always been part of jazz from its earliest days, and in the 30s, with the birth of the big bands, its popularity never really waned. But the place where the swing outfits stuck closer to the blues was Kansas City. Vocalists developed a style fo singing that projected the voice (often without a microphone) over the sound of a big jazz band. Those singers were called Blues Shouters! Key artists of this genre include Jimmy Rushing ( with Count Basie), Big Joe Turner ( with Pete Johnson), Jimmy Witherspoon ( with Jay Mcshann) and Wynonie Harris.

01:45-02:30 VINYL TIME // DJ GAS
SATURDAY
23:30-00:15 FUNKY BLUES // DJ MIGUEL
In the late sixties and early seventies, with the popularity of what was called Funky music and the decline of the Blues between the African American youngsters, Blues musicians that were still very active by that time started to adopt Funky rhythms to their repertoire to make it more modern and mixed. We can notice those rhythms mostly in the rhythm section of a band, electric bass, drums...
In this groovy DJ set you are expected to hear artists such as Albert Collins, Freddie King, Koko Taylor or Buddy Guy among others.
00:15-01:00 HOKUM BLUES: IT'S DIRTY BUT IT'S GOOD // DJ ALEX
Hokum and risqué songs are about as old as blues itself and have existed throughout its history, adapting to any style. But these are not average songs: these are the transgressive ones. Yet, they are not explicit: it’s all jokes and double-meanings.
So on the surface they tell mundane stories about everyday life: songs about food or appliances, songs about jobs or relationships. Lyrics that are perfectly safe for anyone with the pure heart of a child... and perfectly unsafe for any adult with a dirty mind!
So if you like a bit of naughtiness and want all different kinds of blues music: come discover a whole different side of the artists you love!
01:00-01:45 BIG BAND BLUES // DJ HAMED
In the swing era of the 1930s to 1950s, big band jazz was at the height of popularity in New York and New Orleans. When the Jazz and Blues meet, magic happens. A lot of layers to dance to, lots of elements to play with.
02:00-02:45 MISSISSIPPI HILL COUNTRY BLUES // DJ LEIGH
Join Leigh for a deep-dive into this lesser-known country style featuring raw vocals, steady guitar riffs and slide licks, and stomping percussive rhythms (drawing heavily on its West African roots).
Get acquainted with the originators and masters of the sound: Mississippi Fred McDowell, R.L. Burnside and Robert Kimbrough - and give in to their hypnotic grooves pulling you deeper and deeper into the music.

SUNDAY
19:30-20:15 LATIN BLUES // DJ MIGUEL
The term Latin is un umbrella term for rhythms coming from the Caribbean Islands: Rhumba, Son Cubano, Calypso, Boogaloo, Mambo... that came into the USA through New Orleans, up through the Mississippi river and had its final destination in Northern cities such as Chicago or New York. The Jazz and Blues bands took those different rhythms and mixed them with their style, always keeping the African American flavour and aesthetics. We can find those Latin-Blues songs in a range of blues styles... Come and dance to the music of Sidney Bechet, Howlin' Wolf, Professor Longhair, B.B.King or Slim Harpo and don't forget to bring your hips!
20:15-21:00 THE SOUL SET // DJ BIBI
The recipe for this cocktail is simple, the outcome is EXPLOSIVE! Take one part of rhythm & blues from the 50s, one part of syncopated rhythms and raw woodwind sounds from the South, add the Motown touch from the 60s, stir until well-chilled and garnish with love!
It’s time to get away with the Soul set!
21:00-21:45 THE THREE KINGS // DJ HAMED
This is a style that grew out of everything that came before and is the start of when blues musicians were even less likely to stick to a specific style from one region. It’s known for single-string guitar soloing and horn driven backing.
Three particularly noteworthy bluesmen who played in this style were “The Three Kings of Blues”, Albert King, Freddie King and of course B.B. King.
