JAY RIVERA Musician & instructor Dominican singer and cultural manager based in Madrid, Jay is the composer and leader of The Groove Family, a soul-funk band awarded best Funk group 2024 by Enlace Funk magazine. His work blends music and community, while staying true to his African-Caribbean roots. Jay brings his funk-edge to the blues, playing alongside Pablo Sanpa, one of Spain's leading blues guitarists. From slow and intense, to full-energy-party, Jay will take you on a musical journey. In addition to getting you dancing at the parties, Jay will be teaching alongside Alba in Saturday's musicality classes. |
MAYKA EDJOLE Musician & instructor Singer, composer, singing teacher and DJ. Mayka began her musical career in the group Abadìe 500 Blues Band in 1991. After studying Philology and Teaching, she dedicated herself professionally to music in 1997. Mayka has been an integral part of the ESBF family for many years, bringing us magical moments including her Nina Simone tribute, Billie Holiday tribute, and many many nights of wild partying! We're delighted to welcome her this year not only as a musician but also as an instructor, teaching alongside Vicci in Saturday's musicality classes. |
JESSIE GORDON Musician & instructor A sun-shy Perth red-headed jazz singer who enjoys dancing in her kitchen to Otis Redding, eating cheese at any given opportunity and singing in the shower. Her main musical passions are jazz, blues and roots music. Jessie started singing professionally at the age of 15 and has fronted big bands, jazz duos and every sized band in-between. She has toured the world sharing her music, recorded 9 albums, and is a 20 time Fringe World Music and Cabaret Award winner. Jessie's charisma captures any room she is in. STEF ROSEN Musician & instructor Born and raised in a small village in the north Italian mountains, musically grown between Chicago and Berlin, Stef Rosen is considered one of the most innovative and genuine blues players that have emerged in Europe in the recent decades. His music is soulful, inspired by the sounds and voices of the early 70s, from Bobby Blue Bland to Albert King. Awarded artist and sound engineer (nominated for Album of the Year next to legends as John Mayall, Joe Bonamassa, and more), he spent the last 10 years touring and playing his music around the world... from New York to Beijing, Moscow to Seoul... his voice is a sweet treat for your soul. ALBA MENGUAL DANCER & instructor The founder of Big Mama Swing School in Madrid (the beautiful home of ESBF), Alba has been a full-time professional dancer for over 15 years. Her background in pharmacy, specifically in the field of medical information, gave her an analytical approach that she has successfully integrated into her dance instruction as a powerful communication tool. Alba is deeply aware of the responsibility that comes with being a transmitter of African American culture. She understands dance as a cultural manifestation, an expression born from a people’s worldview. For this reason, her passion for dance has also led her to delve into African American history, with the aim of better understanding the context and profound meaning of these dances. In her classes, she not only teaches movement but also instills a respect for the context and a love for the culture and people who gave rise to these dances. Her goal is to ensure that those who join the community do not disconnect the dance from its roots. |
VICCI MOORE DANCER & instructor There is nothing Vicci loves more than dance. She began her training in a variety of solo dance styles before discovering partner dancing in her twenties — a discovery that would become the focus of her lifelong passion and career. Alongside her extensive dance experience, Vicci holds a Diploma in Anatomy and Physiology, a First-Class Honours degree in Dance and Choreography, accredited training in teaching adults, and a Master’s degree in Education. She brings this unique combination of practical experience and academic knowledge into her classes, where she is passionate about developing ‘thinking dancers’. Vicci’s teaching focuses on giving students the tools to understand, create, and improvise — empowering them to make their own choices and find their own voice within the dance. Vicci is committed to continually educating herself about the history, cultural values, and social context of the dance. She strives to honour both the art form and the people who created it, sharing what she learns through her teaching. As well as co-organising ESBF, Vicci is the co-founder and organiser of The Blues Room online dance school, Bluesology Teacher Training, and The Jump dance training programme. |
GAS FERNANDEZ DANCER & instructor Gas is passionate about all things swing and blues. He discovered Lindy Hop in 2001 in Buenos Aires (Argentina). Teaching since 2008, he has traveled the world to spread his passion for this music and dance. His background as a gymnast gives his style power, dynamism and explosive aerials. His tango technique background fills his blues and “slow dance” with a profound connection and sensitivity. Gas´s heart is thirsty to keep improving, learning, developing and fulfilling himself as a swing artist. His hopes to transmit his passion and knowledge, and inspire all those who are interested in this incredible world of Swing and Blues dance. |
ADAMO CIARALLO DANCER & instructor Spreading joy through dance—that’s Adamo’s mission. For over a decade, he’s brought his charismatic teaching style and fun-loving energy to dance floors worldwide, inspiring students of all levels. Adamo is more than an instructor; he’s a community builder, uniting people through the magic of movement and music. With a professional qualification in adult education, he tailors his approach to individual needs, fostering a deep connection between dancers and the music they love. Prepare for classes filled with laughter, learning, and unforgettable dance moments.
